Katherine Morrow re-appointed as the PSI Council President

At its meeting on Thursday 20 June 2024, the Council of the PSI – The Pharmacy Regulator, re-elected Ms Katherine Morrow as President, for a second term. Dr Denis O'Driscoll was elected as Vice-President. The President and Vice-President are elected from amongst the Council for a one-year term and may hold office for up to two years.

Katherine has served on the PSI Council since 2021. She is the Director and National Coordinator of APPEL (Affiliation of Pharmacy Practice Experiential Learning), responsible for managing the experiential learning placements within the integrated pharmacy programs at Ireland's three Schools of Pharmacy. A graduate of the School of Pharmacy, Nottingham University, Katherine has over 25 years’ experience working across a breadth of sectors including primary care, secondary care, regulation and academia.

Denis brings 26 years of experience in pharmacy, and since 2018, has been the Superintendent Pharmacist for Lloyds Pharmacy. Prior to this he spent 22 years as Chief Pharmacist with HSE Addiction Services. He was first appointed to the PSI Council in 2023.

Together with the Council, the President and Vice-President will continue to oversee the ongoing work of the PSI, including significant projects under the Corporate Strategy 2021-2024, and the development and delivery of the next Corporate Strategy.

The PSI is a public body established by law to protect the health, safety, and well-being of patients and the public by regulating pharmacists and pharmacies in Ireland. The PSI is governed by a 21-member Council, with a non-pharmacist majority, and each member is appointed by the Minister for Health. The Council is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the PSI's functions in the public interest.
